The General Hospital recap for September 7-11, 2020, features a sea of change sweeping over GH, a troubling development for Alexis, the end for Mike, and a new adventure for Robert.
It’s all change at GH. Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) is in as chief of staff, Epiphany Johnson (Sonya Eddy) is out as head nurse, and Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) is practically out of a job – how will she and Franco (Roger Howarth) manage with her only working two shifts a week?
We knew that Cyrus (Jeff Kober) had plans for the venerable institution, but we didn’t expect him to make it vulnerable. Fingers crossed that Finn’s (Michael Finn) posturing that GH will cease to proper function in about 11 minutes is just that. But something tells us he was right on the money – give or take a minute or two.
Cyrus swore to Jordan (Briana Nicole Henry) that he didn’t have Neil Byrne (Joe Flanigan) killed…and we kinda believe him. The one undeniable fact is that the disgraced psychiatrist did indeed die of an opioid overdose – in Alexis’s (Nancy Lee Grahn) bed.
The discarded needle found by Julian (William deVry) seems to support the self-administered theory but at this point, Alexis would really rather think of Neil as a murder victim instead of yet another really good liar. She’s already bedded plenty of those.
Mike’s (Max Gail) time on earth is approaching the end and the extended Corinthos family has begun to gather in order to say their final farewells. Josslyn (Eden McCoy) was first, and her moment with “Grandpa Mike” was heartfelt and tender – even if was the first genuine moment the two shared together on screen (newly-recreated flashbacks aside).
Just when Robert (Tristan Rogers) seemed to finally be accepting the fact that Holly (Emma Samms) really was gone, he gets sucked right back in by a phone call from his supposed second-great love.
Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) was sure that it was fake. Or a long-ago recording meant to send Robert on a wild goose chase. But whatever the case may be, Robert is going to get himself some answers.
Speaking of Holly, anyone else disappointed that we’ve been “treated” to one paltry flashback featuring the majesty that was her relationship with Robert?
Please, PLEASE tell us that Franco and Elizabeth purposefully set up those kisses with Ava (Maura West) and Nikolas (Marcus Coloma), respectively. If not, we’re going to have to have a serious talk during the next recap. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
