The General Hospital recap for October 21-25, 2019, features a week answering the most pressing question from the residents of Port Charles: Is he Franco, Drew or something in-between.
General Hospital Recap: Weekly Highlights
Franco’s (Roger Howarth) competency hearing was called to order and all the interested parties gathered in the courtroom anxiously awaiting their turn in the witness box. Jordan (Briana Nicole Henry) was the first person called and she recounted Franco’s heroic assist in smoking out Ryan Chamberlin (Jon Lindstrom).
Cameron (William Lipton) was the next to take the stand and was followed by Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), Monica (Leslie Charleson), and Jason (Steve Burton).
Elizabeth had to confess that she had kept the real Drew Cain from learning that he might be Jason Morgan but argued that her sin of omission also proved a very salient point — if there was another Drew Cain then surely someone who claims to be him isn’t mentally sound.
That might have been a score for Scotty but then Monica testified that just because Franco doesn’t have the DNA of the man he claimed to be that doesn’t mean anything.
She says it’s neurology that makes a person who they are and since Franco thinks he is Drew Cain and possesses the memories of Drew Cain then he is, for all intents and purposes, Drew Cain.
That’s not really how the world works but Monica is coming from a selfish position so she will peddle whatever baloney she can just so long as she can hear about the real Drew’s childhood.
When Kim (Tamara Braun) was cross examined Scotty (Kin Shriner) forced her to admit that she had drugged and attempted to rape the real Drew Cain — a fact which deeply disturbed Dranco.
The man in question was the next to take the stand. When he recalled being in Turkey in July of 2010, Scotty countered that he — as Franco was actually in California committing murder.
Not exactly a helpful truth but it did show the judge that the man was incapable of grasping the idea that he is actually a set of memories trapped inside another person’s body.
Kevin was the final witness and he told the court that Franco was mentally competent and capable of accepting or refusing his own medical treatments. Following that assessment, the judge recessed the hearing and retired to ponder her decision.
Greasing the Wheels of Justice
Diane (Carolyn Hennesy) and Jason paid Sam (Kelly Monaco) a visit at Pentonville and found her in dire straits. She was homesick, she missed her children, and was scared to death that her appointed cellmate would return from solitary and attack her.
She begged Diane to work her legal magic and the courtroom shark offered up an alternative to a jury trial — argue the case in front of a judge who would then decide her fate. Jason wasn’t exactly on board with that plan but when Diane revealed that she could arrange for Sam to argue her case in just a few days Sam jumped at the chance.
