Elizabeth Webber checked herself out of Shadybrook Mental Hospital, pronouncing herself cured on General Hospital. She went back to work, home to her boys, and back into her normal life without so much as a stop for a bit of outpatient therapy. Was she jumping the gun? Is she ready to be back?
She is so not ready, 68% of you diagnose from a distance. Look at how snippy she got with Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) about following proper procedure to be reinstated. Or how she reacted to seeing Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) again. This is not a woman who is a paragon of mental health.
She’s not ready to be working with patients again, she’s not ready to be the mother her sons need — look at how she skipped Trina Robinson’s (Tabyana Ali) trial, where Cam Webber (William Lipton) is one of the victims — and she is definitely not ready to pick up her romantic relationship with Finn!
That depends on what’s wrong with her, doesn’t it, a more sensible 28% of fans point out. If she just needed a break from being a working mom, then a few weeks at Shadybrook was just what the doctor ordered. But if we’re talking about a serious mental illness, like a full-out nervous breakdown or a disassociative personality disorder, then checking yourself out and pretending everything is fine is NOT the way to go.
Only 4% of the audience thinks the best medicine for Liz is to reunite with Cameron, Jake, and Aiden. The hospital was what was making her crazy. She’s a medical professional. If she says her condition was caused by the wrong sleeping pills, believe her. Her diagnosis is no worse than the mistakes the GH doctors make on a regular basis.
