For months now, General Hospital fans have been wondering: Why is Esme in Port Charles, and what does she want? If Esme is after Spencer Cassadine, she sure seems unenthused about it. And where did putting up Cameron Webber and Josslyn Jacks’ sex tape fit into any of it?
General Hospital Polling
Well, now we finally know. Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) isn’t enthused about the teen scene because they’re not what she’s there for. She’s there to seduce Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) away from Ava Jerome (Maura West)…for her “Daddy,” Ryan Chamberlin (Jon Lindstrom). But if Ryan is the one pulling her strings, then is Esme actually a villain… or yet another of his victims? Here’s what almost 2,000 of you think:
Bad Girl
Are you saying that women can’t be bad without a man telling them what to do, 53% of the audience asks, deeply insulted? Ryan is in a mental institution. Esme is the one out there, wreaking havoc. She is evil – and she owns it!
General Hospital: Intentions Don’t Matter
Even if Ryan is the one directing her, Esme is still the one carrying out his orders. If stupid is as stupid does (hat-tip: Forrest Gump), then it should apply to evil, too. A second-place 42% of viewers don’t care why Esme is doing what she’s doing. The only relevant fact is that she’s the one doing it.
Big, Bad Man
If a woman like Ava, older, cooler, smarter than Esme could have fallen for Ryan’s lines, surely poor, wittle Esme never stood a chance. As far as 5% are concerned, Esme can’t be held responsible for her actions. This is Ryan’s world, and Esme is just living in it. She’s being manipulated and hasn’t a thought in her head that’s independent. Poor delicate little thing.
