It’s a hard-knock life for Elizabeth Webber Baldwin on General Hospital. Her parents clearly don’t care about her, having dumped a teenage Liz and never once visiting her since. She lost her first love, Lucky Spencer, to a variety of obstacles, including temporary death.
She lost one of her sons to temporary death, as well. There were doomed relationships with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma), and then a jailhouse marriage to Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) – followed by his presumably long-term death. Is Liz (Rebecca Herbst) in the right headspace to move on with a new love? Here’s what viewers told us:
A majority 42% of you believe that Liz is ready to face the future – she’s just too scared to risk her heart again. And you don’t blame her. She’s never had a relationship work out. (Then again, who on a soap has?) But worrying over three boys and her friends’ lives are going to get real old, real soon. She might as well go for it – and see what happens.
Then again, 36% of the audience thinks that Liz isn’t over Franco yet, and, until that healing happens, she can’t be thinking of which man comes next. Sure, Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) has been smiling at her in that beguiling way he has. He is also wounded. They have that in common. But until Liz puts her late husband behind her, she isn’t ready to move forward.
Liz might be ready, but the fact that she’s hesitating suggests that Finn isn’t the right guy to 22% of GH fans. He’s coming off a very messy breakup with Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), not to mention still nursing unfinished business with Hayden Barnes. Liz can see the warning signs. And she isn’t playing.
