Wonderful, lovable, and sweet Violet has been through the ringer on General Hospital. Her mother, Hayden, left years ago, and now her grandfather has died, and her father’s in rehab. Could the latter one-two punch push her over to the dark side?
Violet’s a Good Kid
Over the decades there have been many youngsters on soap operas who have been naughty beyond belief. Rachel (Finley Rose Slater) on Days of Our Lives comes to mind as being such a brat, she should be punished into the next century. GH’s Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez) has also been a holy terror in her days, pretty much up until Anna (Finola Hughes) mistakenly shot her, thinking she was an adult intruder. But then you have the wonderful, kind, pleasant children who grace our screens, such as Aiden (Tristan Riggs), who’s always thinking of others, and Violet (Jophielle Love), who has a heart of gold.
However, Violet’s world has been rocked not only by the death of her grandfather, Gregory (Gregory Harrison), but also by her dad, Finn (Michael Easton), who went off to rehab. And let’s not forget that she barely knew her mother, Hayden (Rebecca Budig), before she fled Port Charles.
On the July 25 episode, Violet was having a heart-to-heart talk with Sasha (Sofia Mattsson). After mentioning that her dad and grandpa were gone, she asked why people eventually left. The look of sadness in her eyes was heartbreaking, but it also could be a signal that something might snap in her mind. While Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) are watching over her, if even one of them has to go somewhere for an extended period, she might not be able to take it. She May Have a Dark Side Like Finn
Finn has been known to have a more serious, darker side, which lightened up when Violet came into his life. But that darkness was always just under the surface and emerged when Gregory died from ALS. Finn couldn’t take it and turned to drinking, shutting out people in his life like Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst).
Thankfully, his brother Chase managed to talk some sense into him and brought him to get some help. Meanwhile, Violet could be a ticking time bomb waiting to explode at just the right moment. We’ve never seen her harm even a fly, but she could grow resentful, especially in a house full of children whose familial ties might make her jealous.
She’s just starting in life, headed to her teen years, where hormones, school, and life just get in kids’ faces, making them even more confused than they already are. Add to that the trauma she’s suffered with people leaving her, and she could start to feel isolated and become a schemer who plots and plans to get what she wants or to lash out at everyone around her. This might be a job for Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) to use his psychiatric skills and intervene before she becomes the latest Port Charles bad seed.
However, seeing her cross over to the dark side would be far more interesting and entertaining, considering Love is a fantastic young actress. A challenging storyline like that might be just what the doctor ordered!
