Tabyana Ali’s General Hospital character Trina has only taken the slightest break after the death of Spencer. But now that she’s back at the forefront again with Giovanni Mazza’s Gio, we learned what she was up to during her brief downtime.
A New Film
GH star Tabyana Ali has been enjoying great success in developing her character Trina on the soap. She even met with co-star Giovanni Mazza (Gio) prior to shooting their first scenes together, and instantly developed a rapport with the newcomer. She’s been very busy lately, and her recent Instagram post is a testament to that. She shared a poster for her upcoming film, Empire Waist, and eagerly wrote, “THE OFFICIAL POSTER DROP!!”
She then added, “I can’t wait for everyone to see this amazing film directed/written by [Claire Ayoub] (who I absolutely love and honored to know). I’m really grateful to be a part of this spectacular film. This was such a dream job!” If given the chance, she would film the movie again, and stated, “Can’t wait for you to meet all of the lovable, inspiring, and talented cast/characters!!”
According to IMDb, the movie, “Follows a group of teens who overcome societal bias through inclusive fashion design and friendship.” Ali plays a character named Honor in the movie, which also co-stars The Office alum Rainn Wilson, as well as Mia Kaplan (The Goldbergs), and Missi Pyle (Galaxy Quest) among others.
Her Fans Were Pumped For The Movie
In answer to a fan question, she explained that the film would premiere on September 27th, although she didn’t specify whether it would be theatrically or streaming. GH executive producer Frank Valentini wrote, “Congratulations Tabyana 😍.” Co-star Eden McCoy (Josslyn) also chimed in with, “Proud of you!!!” along with Mazza, who shared emojis: “🔥🔥🔥🔥”
Ali’s on-screen mother, Brook Kerr (Portia), was thrilled and lovingly responded, “Get it, queen!!!!!! 👑. Tickets on day one!!!!!!!!”
All of Ali’s followers were excited about this new venture, and many stated they couldn’t wait to see the film, with tons of congratulations pouring in from all over. The movie already debuted on May 14 at the Seattle International Film Festival, and we’re excited for its wider release in September.
