Real-life daytime super couple Jon Lindstrom and Cady McClain can often be found supporting one another on their social media feeds with loving messages. Today was a little different — and even more special.
In honor of International Women’s Day, Lindstrom (General Hospital Kevin and Ryan) took to Instagram to pay tribute to his beautiful wife, McClain (Days of our Lives, ex-Jennifer; The Young and the Restless ex-Kelly; All My Children, ex-Dixie). The actor praised his wife’s significant accomplishment.
“Today is #InternationalWomensDay and I’m going to start with lauding my #DynamoGenius [wife] shown here at the SOHO Int’l Film Fest where she won the Audience Award for her terrific doc ‘Seeing Is Believing: Women Direct'” the actor posted, adding an image from the event.
The documentary, which made its world premiere at the SOHO Film Festival on June 19, focuses on the challenges of being a female director in Hollywood and the difference it makes to have a woman in the director’s chair.
McClain interviews several women directors and emphasizes the opportunity for women to use their voices through media to change the political and social landscape and achieve full equality.
In his post, Jon Lindstrom also lets fans know that the film is currently available on Vimeo and Kanopy and invites everyone to check out this award-winning film.
The documentary includes commentary from directors such as Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland), Sarah Gavron (Suffragette), Li Lu (There is a New World Somewhere, A Town Called Victoria), and Naima Ramos-Chapman (Random Acts of Flyness).
Everyone has insights, from Lizzie Borden to Betty Thomas to Joanna Kerns, commenting on how collaboration, rather than oppression, can incentivize all genders to connect across our shared human experience.
In addition to winning the SOHO Film Festival award, the film also won the Jury Prize at the Newport Beach Film Festival, and won the Best Short Documentary at the Burbank, Glendale, and Geneva Film Festivals. It also took home Best Documentary at the Ridgewood Guild International Film Festival.
GH’s Kimberly McCullough (Robin Scorpio Drake) also serves as a producer on the project. In addition to the documentary, McClain and her team are also writing a book based on their conversations with directors.
