Since 2022, Jacqueline Grace Lopez has entertained General Hospital fans as the singer Blaze, who entered into a same-sex relationship with Kristina, ruffling the feathers of her less-than-tolerant mother, Natalia. Fans were regaled by her amazing voice and even more entertained by her duets with Chase. Sadly, Blaze’s story ended recently, and her portrayer sent a heartfelt message to the fans and shared her gratitude for the opportunity.

Exiting GH Was Painful for Her

Blaze wasn’t the first character Lopez played on GH. She briefly appeared as a babysitter, once in 2015, then again in 2016. But Blaze put Lopez on the map, turning her into a beloved soap star. After Kristina (Kate Mansi) tragically lost her baby, Blaze learned that she had the opportunity to tour with former Port Charles resident-turned-rock star, Miguel (ex-Ricky Martin), and was convinced she should take the opportunity, so she left town.

In an August 14 post on X, formerly Twitter, Lopez posted two images with a lengthy goodbye written. “Not gonna lie, this goodbye hurts,” she continued, “ I think because I didn’t see it coming. That and when you spend almost two years with this group, you start to feel like part of the fabric.” After following her character’s journey, fans felt she was truly part of the GH family.

Gratitude in Her Words

She thanked executive producer Frank Valentini for asking her to come back to the show in 2022 and stated her gratitude for being part of the storylines, feeling that the hard-working cast and crew taught her many things. “I’m definitely going to miss this bunch,” she stated. She marveled that not only did she get some great stories as a “non-contract” actor, but also that the stories focused on Blaze’s “Latinė” heritage, as well as being gay, remarking, “Sometimes we have to be the change we don’t see.”

Incredibly thankful for everything, she even directed some of her gratitude to the fans, stating, “Thank you for sharing your stories, your words of encouragement, and for the generous gifts! Know I carry all of that with me always. I hope I did right by you. That’s all I wanted to do.” Nearly all of her fans were upset that she was leaving, and one spoke for many with the positive reply: “So sorry to see you go, but you won’t be idle for long, pretty girl! Someone will snap you up quickly! Thank you for gracing our screens for 2 years. 🙏❤️.” (Find out how Blaze broke up with everyone.)
