Ever since Bryan Craig’s General Hospital character Morgan was killed off in 2016, fans have been praying he would eventually return. He did appear briefly twice: as a figment of Ava’s imagination in 2018 as a result of her guilt, and in August 2024 when he stopped his dad Sonny from jumping off the hospital roof. Now that Ava’s on trial for causing the death of Kristina’s baby, Kristina also wants to get justice for her late brother, and the fact that he’s been mentioned as of late might mean he’s really returning from the dead and not as a ghost or a hallucination.
Death Isn’t the Handicap It Used To Be
Ardent soap opera fans know their favorite characters can be resurrected from the dead for various reasons. Jason’s (Steve Burton) done it twice. So has Sonny (Maurice Benard). And when Morgan was blown off a cliff by the shockwave from a car explosion, he was presumed dead. Any time a character is presumed to have perished that leaves the door wide open for an eventual return.
Morgan’s been mentioned quite a bit lately, particularly because Kristina (Kate Mansi) is battling his ex-lover Ava (Maura West) in court, hopefully to avenge Morgan. When a character not on the canvas in a soap is mentioned often, that usually means they’ll probably be returning soon. Mentioning Morgan gives fans a shred of hope to hold on to. Craig’s IMDb page is wide open, and there are no upcoming projects listed, so he’s most likely free to reprise the character.

Will His Return Be Good for Kristina?
If Morgan does turn up alive, there are many explanations for his absence. Like his dad, he could have been blown clear to another town with amnesia and forged a new life there. Or, like Jason, he was captured by the government or a nefarious organization and forced to do their bidding.
Unlike the death of Sam, who died onscreen with the audience as witnesses, leaving a death open-ended gives the fans hope the character will return. But if Morgan turns up alive, Kristina’s case will be blown right out of the water. Ava might be prosecuted for messing with his meds, but we all know how these things go. He won’t press charges because he’s still got a thing for her. It would be cool if he returned and was formidable, not a leaf in the wind like in the past. One can only hope.
