GH’s Tabyana Ali Talks About Trina Going Soft On Esme

Trina Robinson’s current storyline resonates with many General Hospital viewers. At a certain age, who hasn’t dated someone who has a child with another woman? But “Sprina” fans worry that Spencer Cassadine playing house with his ex-girlfriend, Esme Prince, will lead to romance, and they are not having it. Tabyana Ali recently addressed fans’ concerns about Trina’s going easy on her arch-enemy.

Tabyana Ali Fielded Fan Questions

Fans voiced their worries that Trina was handling Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) with kid gloves at a recent Zoom event hosted by Coastal Entertainment and her portrayer, Ali, calmly eased their fears.

“I think about that too,” she admitted. “The circumstances feel different now. And myself, I’m the type of person when the circumstances are different, then I tend to just hold back a little bit because if you were continuing to still be this horrible evil, vindictive person, I probably would have said something.”

Ali explained how her view of Esme’s situation has changed. “Now, you have amnesia, you’re with a baby, and you really have no place to go,” the actress described her reasoning. “So, should I add on to that? I don’t know. I don’t know if I want to be the source of the problem. And I think that’s where Trina always comes from, and she’s like, ‘I don’t want to be a source of problem.'”

The fan-favorite actress reminded the Zoom attendees that Trina has a lot going on in her own life. “I think that with what she’s going through with her mom [Portia, Brook Kerr] and Spencer [Nicholas Alexander Chavez], she doesn’t want to add stress to her mom about Spencer. And Spencer is having to deal with Ace,” she continued with her list of Trina’s obstacles. “There’s already a situation going on with Curtis [Donnell Turner].”

The young actress worried that Trina was bottling up her emotions. “I think that she does need to express more of her feelings. But I think the reason why she’s not doing it is because there’s already problems there,” Ali reasoned. “She’s also expressed to her mom that she doesn’t like the living situation, but she has not verbalized that to Spencer. And I get that. She feels like maybe she would be adding on to Spencer’s problems by doing that.”

Tabyana Ali teased fans that they just might see Trina’s feisty side again. “Eventually, I’m gonna hit a point where I will switch, and I’ll be like, ‘I’m tired of what you’ve been doing,’ and I think Trina is now more like, ‘I’m gonna give you a chance, but if you keep going on, then I’m gonna get on you.’”
