Footage began circulating earlier this week in which General Hospital star Kelly Monaco revealed that her house was on fire, but the details of when and what happened weren’t there. Now she’s spoken out about the horrible ordeal she experienced on Friday the 13th.
Kelly Monaco Survives House Fire
The beloved actress spoke to TMZ about what happened, letting them know that she woke up late that morning to find a fire raging in her front yard. Seeing flames move quickly, she escaped before fire engulfed portions of her Sherman Oaks house.
Unfortunately, the damage caused hundreds of thousands of dollars, and it will be unlivable until the repairs are made. On the bright side for Monaco, her home was well insured, so once all of that paperwork is straightened out, hopefully, she will be that much closer to getting her home back.
As for what caused the fire, Monaco turned over her security footage to investigators, and it looks like it was started when someone tossed a lit cigarette butt on the empty lot next door. They believe it wasn’t intentional. But it goes to show you how much damage can occur from such a careless act.
The footage that was seen on Twitter earlier this week, shared by a supporter named Pam which you can see below, looks like it was shot by Kelly Monaco herself and gives a harrowing view of what she went through during this experience. Soap Hub is grateful that she was able to get out safely and wishes her all the best with all that she faces in her attempt to repair her home.

How quickly it can spread. Security footage captured this and how a strangers cigarette could cost someone their life. Good insurance makes it a little easier. Hoping for a better next six months for our fav Kelly. We love you 💗💗💗 pic.twitter.com/7779Bw4yc9
