As previously reported, Coby Ryan McLaughlin shared the news that his girlfriend, Melanie Taylor, had passed away. Now, the former General Hospital actor, compelling to say the least as Dawn of Day cult leader is sharing a beautiful tribute, which honors his late love.
Finding Love a Second Time
“On the day of your memorial, I wanted to honor and share the story of us,” McLaughlin posted on Instagram along with photographs of the couple in happier times. “The first picture is the night we met…the last 2 pictures are the last pictures ever taken of us. Of you. A love/in love. A whole lifetime in between…I love you, my angel.
“This was my person. We met 6 years ago on the 31st of March 2018,” McLaughlin recalls. “We chose each other. Found each other at a kid’s birthday party. What are the odds? We had a beautiful, intensely imperfect love. Then, as beautiful intensely imperfect loves are wont to do when they can no longer navigate growth together and burn too hot, they end. We parted ways. Sad.
“Confused. Unsure. But always with the slightest glimmer of hope… We would check in every now and again; got real close a couple times,” the actor shares. “Had a couple false starts. Still needed time; Were with other people (but never for long) and then on a random Saturday in April, you knocked on my front door…. after almost 3 years apart.
“We spent the next few weeks together…hung out. Met different versions of ourselves,” McLaughlin says. “Hiked. Sat in silence… talked for hours…. slow danced in the kitchen. We were beginning to allow the love that had always been there to seep slowly back through the cracks of our hearts and light a new path out of the chaos that we created in a previous life… It felt right. We trusted that we were different… that we were healed juuuuust enough….
“You left me the day after my 50th birthday,” he continues. “I will never forget the way you looked at me when I sang to you that night. What your kiss felt like on my cheek as you curled up around me on my couch, your hair falling in my face, on the day of your departure. Your warmth; it felt like home. you were home to me. Thank you for loving me so deeply, Melanie Taylor… thank you for your beautiful gift… for choosing me… if only for a moment….
“Rest well, my beautiful seeker,” McLaughlin concludes, adding a red heart emoji. His former GH co-star, Ryan Carnes (ex-Lucas), shared, “Damn. I feel this deeply. So sorry brother.” The actor added three heart emojis to his post.
