Fans were in shock after Kristina took a header out of a Metro Court Hotel room window on General Hospital. The citizens of Port Charles who were at the hotel’s rooftop pool were also aghast watching the pregnant woman plunge into the water, and the show shared some behind-the-scenes footage of the amazing stunt work involved.
A Peek Behind the Curtain
As if Ava (Maura West) hasn’t caused enough trouble by sharing a recording of Natalia (Eva LaRue) with the local media — where she gave her controversial opinions about her daughter Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) and her pregnant girlfriend Kristina (Kate Mansi) — she’s also taking Sonny (Maurice Benard) to court over custody issues with their daughter Avery (Ava and Grace Scarola) and served Kristina with a subpoena to testify against her mobster dad.
Dismayed by this, Kristina went to Ava’s hotel room to confront her, and in the kerfuffle, she accidentally tripped over Agent Cates’ (Adam J. Harrington) duffel bag and went sailing out of the window and into the pool.
On Instagram, the show shared a video depicting some of the behind-the-scenes efforts that went into her pool plunge, captioning it, “It truly takes a village (to throw someone out of a hotel window on daytime television). Let’s give @KateMansi, her stunt double (@sweett_02), and everyone whose work [made] today’s General Hospital must-see TV! 📸 #BehindtheScenes.”
This happened in the August 1 episode, with Josslyn (Eden McCoy) and Gio (Giovanni Mazza) rescuing her and getting her to the hospital in the following episode. Everyone, fans and characters alike, are worried that Kristina and her baby are seriously injured.
Perfect Illusion
GH went to great lengths to give the illusion that Kristina plummeted from a higher window, and the video was titled “Anatomy of a fall: Kristina’s version.” In it, we saw Mansi’s stunt double leaping into the pool, the horrified reactions of everyone who was poolside, and a shot of Mansi screaming so that it could be recorded and subsequently overdubbed. When all the parts were put together (including Gio looking so terrified, he was also screaming at the top of his lungs), the mastery of the stunt and execution of the entire sequence should be commended for being believable and compelling.
Cast members LaRue and Finola Hughes (Anna) responded, “So good!” The fans all around applauded the extraordinary effort, with one writing, “I leapt off my couch like it was on fire when I watched this scene. Well done GH! 👏👏👏.”
Another viewer who was equally blown away by the events replied, “Oh My Gosh today was epic!!! Haven’t been glued to it like today in a long time! Please let Kristina and the baby be ok.” Overall, the fans loved the scenes, and it shows how dedicated they are as they were genuinely worried for Kristina and her baby.
