On GH, Sonny and AJ Quartermaine were bitter enemies, so much so that the former shot the latter and was thought to have killed him, though, in actuality, he was smothered to death while recovering in the hospital by Asher Thomas.
In real life, the two actors, Maurice Benard and Sean Kanan, are friends, and Benard recently welcomed Kanan to his State of Mind YouTube show. Benard previewed the show on his Instagram.
“It was great to catch up and he didn’t hold anything back,” he wrote, providing a link to the video. “Sean has come a long way and I think you’re going to love his motivation book ‘Way of the Cobra’ which is out now.”
Kanan also took to Instagram to share news of his involvement. “I loved joining @mauricebenard on @mbstateofmind,” he wrote. “Check out our no holds barred conversation. It’s about to get real.”
During the show, Kanan talked about his new book, Way of the Cobra, which shares his tactics and strategies necessary to unleash “the inner badass.” The book is chock full of motivation tips and guidance on how one can set and achieve goals and how they can create meaningful change.
A daytime vet, Kanan also played Deacon Sharpe on The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless, and is the Daytime Emmy award-winning creator of Studio City, the popular serial available on Amazon, in which he plays Sam. Kanan opened up to Benard about that experience as well.
“Studio City has been my baby for a very long time,” Kanan told Benard. “It finally came to fruition, and it has been one of the most amazing things that has ever happened. This character is really extremely close to who I am.”
On GH, viewers know that AJ is really Michael’s father, and he was somewhat of a loose cannon, making enemies wherever he went. So, it wasn’t surprising when someone decided to send him to his maker. Although he’s appeared as a ghost on the show, fans would still love to see the character back, and many even speculated that Roger Howarth’s new character could have been a truly alive AJ. That would definitely have presented some chaos in the Quartermaine household!
Fans of the Netflix hit Cobra Kai are also wondering if Kanan might pop up in the new season, as he played bad-boy Mike Barnes in The Karate Kid Part III, and it’s already been announced that his villainous mentor, Terry Silver (former Another World star Thomas Ian Griffith) will be a big part of the upcoming season.
