Ingo Rademacher is out at General Hospital. The actor made headlines today over his reposting a tweet that was negative towards the trans community. Now comes word that he’ll appear for the last time on GH later this month.
Ingo Rademacher is gone from the show. People reports that the actor’s last air date is set for Monday, November 22. Rademacher has played the role of businessman Jasper “Jax” Jacks on and off since 1996.
The actor has gone on social media in the past, sharing his views on vaccine mandates, and recently, shared in his Instagram stories a post from conservative author/commentator Allie Beth Stuckey, who posted images of Admiral Rachel L. Levine, the 17th Assistant Secretary for Health for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Winsome Sears, the recently elected first Lt. Governor of Virginia. “Hello, and welcome to ClownTown, where the Dude on the left [referring to Levine] is an empowering woman, and the woman on the right [Sears] is a white supremacist.” She ended the post with a clown face and tagged @americathebeautiful.
Rademacher said he regretted not editing the post before sharing, saying he would not disrespect a member of the transgender community as a “dude” if that person identified as female. “I do apologize for not crossing out ‘dude’ and not putting ‘transgender’ I apologize for that,” the actor said. “Me, personally, I wouldn’t have written it that way. It was somebody else’s post. Again, that’s not an excuse. I should have crossed it out.”
Cassandra James, a transgender actress who plays Dr. Terry Randolph on GH, tweeted that she was aware of the tweet and said the poster needed to be educated. She did not reveal Ingo Rademacher’s name in the post. Co-star Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) however, did, noting that he was no longer a GH cast member.
Ingo Rademacher said in his Instagram video that he wanted to apologize to James, calling her “beautiful” and “talented.” The actor also said that he supported his then-3-year-old son Pokahu when he wanted to dress as a Disney princess.
“I don’t think a transphobic dad would buy his son a Disney princess dress,” Rademacher noted. “So, there you have it. I’m an open book. I’m open to discussion and debate about everything and anything and I think that we should always be open to that because that is a democracy. Everything else is not.”
No word on whether or not the show will recast the part, send the character off on a business trip, or if Jax will be presumed dead.
