It was something of a sad week for General Hospital star Dominic Zamprogna, as the calendar hit what would have been his beloved mother’s 75th birthday.
Dominic Zamprogna’s Moving Tribute to His Mother
The actor posted a tribute to his late mother on Instagram. “Today my Mum would’ve been 75. I Miss her. Every. Day,” he wrote, adding a collection of 10 photos of his mom and family through the years. “The talks. The guidance. The when-you-don’t-know-who-to-turn-to-except-your Mum moments. Because no one knows you like her.”
Paulina Zamprogna passed away in 2013 from a stroke, four years after her son began his role as Dante Falconeri on General Hospital.
Born in England, she began dancing as a child and studied ballet at the Royal Academy of Dance, training in both tap and modern at the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing.
During her notable career, she danced on stage in the West End’s West Side Story, took part in the popular London Palladium Show, and appeared on TV alongside greats such as Judi Dench and Albert Finney.
Eventually, she would settle down and move to Hamilton, Ontario with her husband, Lou, to start a dance school— The Dance Centre—which has produced hordes of performers for stage and screen, including Broadway star Nick Cordero, who tragically died of COVID-19 last year.
Zamprogna imagined what his mother would say about turning this milestone. “I don’t know she’d entirely like being 75,” he admitted. “But I can see it. She’d still be teaching ballet I’m sure of it. She’d be the best Nana to Ella, Sam, Luca, James, Auldyn, Anbilliene, Eliana and Adeline. She’d be louzamp1 ‘s rock (ain’t easy)…. While still finding the time to let me know what she thinks of what Dante’s up to. And she’d be doing it all with more grace and class than anyone! And with a heart bursting with pride for her family. We miss you Mum. Happy Birthday.”
On-screen, Dominic Zamprogna’s character, Dante, is working through some big feelings of his own, as he’s been dealing with the love of his life and the mother of his son Rocco, Lulu, being in a coma, and a growing attraction to Sam. Will he and Sam pursue their feelings further? Stay tuned!
