GH and Dynasty Alum Emma Samms is Engaged to Be Married

Soap veteran Emma Samms played a bride on both General Hospital and Dynasty. Now, some exciting news is being reported related to the fan favorite’s marital status.

Emma Samms Is Engaged to Be Married

The Daily Mail is reporting that Emma Samms is engaged to be married to Simon McCoy, an anchor for Great Britain News. “Yes, it’s true,” McCoy told The Daily Mail website. “We are both so happy, as are our children.” Currently, the pair reside at Samms’s home in Cotswolds. No word on a date yet but the plan is to have a ceremony next year when, hopefully, social-distancing measures have improved for the better!

This will be the fourth marriage for Samms, who shot to soap opera stardom in 1982 after joining GH with the challenging task of playing Luke Spencer’s (Anthony Geary) new love as fans were still mourning the loss of his wife Laura Spencer (Genie Francis).

Holly, a con artist, who changed after falling for Luke, set out to swindle Port Charles citizens with a phony oil scam. Luke and Holly’s romance was set to the tune of the Patti Austin/James Ingraham hit Baby, Come To Me, a previously released tune that shot to the top of the charts thanks to the airtime it received on GH.

After Luke was presumed dead, a pregnant Holly wed Luke’s best pal Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers). It was a marriage of convenience to help Holly stay in the country. After Robert and Holly fell in love for real, Luke came home, shocking everyone with his presence.

When She Traded GH For A Flying Space Ship

Samms left GH to assume the role of Fallon Carrington Colby on Dynasty opposite John James’s Jeff Colby. The actress jumped serials to star in the Dynasty spin-off The Colbys. During her stint on The Colbys, it appeared as if Fallon had gotten into a giant spaceship and took off for parts unknown.

In 1992, it was presumed dead Holly’s turn to do the Lazarus bit. She’s recurred on and off GH ever since. Last year, Robert believed that Holly had died, but viewers learned that the character is alive and being held against her will.

Samms shared with Soap Hub earlier this year she’d contracted COVID-19 and talked about her challenging recovery. We not only send congratulatory wishes to Samms and McCoy on their engagement but also wish Samms a continued recovery.

General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes. For more about what’s coming up in Port Charles, check out all the latest that’s been posted on GH spoilers, and for an in-depth look at the show’s history, click here.
