The Days of our Lives recap for Thursday, October 7, 2021, features a best laid plan going to pot, a spot of blackmail, and an Autumn outing sure to end in tears.

Judge Smails (Richard Steinmetz) may be a corrupt piece of garbage, but he’s a smart corrupt piece of garbage. He knew darn well that Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) was up to something, so he was practically lying in wait for someone to come into his office and blackmail him…enter Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth), recorder in hand; exit Justin Kiriakis, tail between his legs, contrite look upon his face.
As he eventually explained to Gwen and Xander Cook (Paul Telfer), they’d been double-crossed but good. Now, Melinda “I’ve Never Met Anybody That I Liked Except Maybe Tripp Johnson” Trask (Tina Huang) is set to charge Justin with blackmail, and Gwen with solicitation – and she’s more determined than ever to ensure that Xander and Bonnie Lockhart (Judi Evans) spend their remaining days behind bars. It’d all be very funny if it wasn’t all so sad.

It’s the latest conundrum being faced by Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus); not that she believes that Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash) beat a man to death; no sir, no way. Despite knowing that Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson) would rather she not spend time with her ex-husband, Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) decided to spend time with her ex-husband; but it was totally fine and above board. His SORAS’d daughter was chaperoning them the whole time.
