Genie Francis Returns to General Hospital as Laura Webber Collins

Christmas is coming early for General Hospital fans. After a well-deserved vacation, Genie Francis is back on set as Laura Webber Collins on the ABC soap opera. Soap Hub has the details on her return and when viewers can see her.

Genie Francis Returns To General Hospital

ABC7, the Los Angeles ABC affiliate, reported the news of Francis’s return with entertainment reporter George Pennacchio sharing the details. A specific air date isn’t included in the report, however, Pennacchio shared that she’ll be back in “early December.”

“It’s the perfect time to come back, isn’t it Christmas?” says Francis, who shared back in August that she was taking a break as Laura. Check out the clip below, posted by @kathysblackhat that shows Laura and her half-brother Martin (Michael E. Knight) talking about their other sibling Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), and how his threats caused them to go into hiding.

Castmates chimed in on GH legend’s return. “She’s like my kind of grandma on the show and it’s always so sweet to get some affection from the amazing Genie Francis,” said William Lipton, whose character Cameron calls Laura’s son Lucky his stepfather. “She’s really, really amazing to work with,” says TV grandson Nicholas Alexander Chavez (Spencer). “She just beams whenever you see her.”

Francis On Past GH Christmases

“I started here when I was about 14…” Francis recalls when asked how many Christmases she’s spent in Port Charles. “I haven’t been here for that whole time…but a lot. I’ve been very fortunate to share a lot of my life with a lot of these people here.”

One of Laura’s most memorable Christmases was when she and then-boyfriend Scotty Baldwin (Kin Shriner) looked up at a star on the Webber family tree in 1978; Laura shared with Scotty under the Christmas tree how she used to pray that “somebody good and somebody wonderful just like you would fall in love with me and would ask me to marry him…” While that wish came true, today, Laura’s happily wed to Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom).

Other cast members shown in the clip below with Francis include Charles Shaughnessy (Victor Cassadine), Maura West (Ava Jerome Cassadine), Sydney Mikayla (Trina Robinson), Marcus Coloma (Nikolas Cassadine), Avery Kristen Pohl (Esme Prince), and Jophielle Love (Violet Finn).
