The Internet is filled with misinformation and disinformation, especially in the last few years, and that information can even flow into images. The use of Photoshop and other editing programs can often lead to cases of mistaken identity — or even mistaken ideals — and General Hospital star Josh Swickard learned that the hard way on Tuesday.
Before he became top-cop and romantic leading man Harrison Chase on GH, Swickard was a model and often model photos end up as stock photos companies can buy. But what they shouldn’t be doing is doctoring those photos to make them seem like something they are not.
A Daily Beast story reported that Former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn is now endorsing an organization selling merchandise promoting QAnon, which is known to many as an Internet group with many non-mainstream views and theories. One of the items is a T-shirt, and the shirt has been digitally-manipulated onto an image of Swickard from his modeling days.
The actor, who now has a top-trending movie on Netflix, A California Christmas, took to Twitter with a video to explain that he is not at all affiliated with this group. Read what he has to say and see the video below.
“I was just informed that an extremist group is using an image of me and digitally putting their logo on a shirt and I would like to say I am in no way affiliated with this group and it is very upsetting and my team is currently looking at it to get this resolved as quickly as possible.”
Comments showed fans in support of Swickard, with many saying they immediately realized the image had been manipulated. They also wished him luck in getting the situation resolved. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
