Chase lied about his relationship with Sasha hoping to increase Michael’s chances of winning Wiley on General Hospital. Now, Chase’s portrayer, Josh Swickard, is playing another character who is skating around the truth in the movie A California Christmas.
Josh Swickard And Lauren Swickard Netflix Film
The Netflix film is written by the actor’s wife, Lauren Swickard, who also serves as producer and lead actress in the project, which was directed by Shaun Paul Piccinino. The story has Lauren’s character, Callie Anderson, who’s been widowed for over a year, working overtime to take care of her mother, younger sister, and the family farm.
Enter Josh’s character, wealthy Joseph Van Aston, whose family is trying to buy Callie’s farm so it can build a huge shipping plant on its land.
Callie mistakenly believes that Joseph is a ranch hand whom she’s hired to help with chores. Joseph remains mum to gain an advantage, but soon finds himself falling for Callie. Will Joseph put his family business – and a promotion promised him by his mom – aside so that Callie can keep the land she loves?
“I started writing the movie in March when the pandemic was just starting,” Lauren tells Soap Hub. “I hope this movie can bring people some joy even if they can’t watch it together.”
Lauren partnered with the same production company that produced Roped, the film on which Lauren and Josh met a while back. “It was so fun to do another movie with the people who brought us together,” Lauren shares.

Viewers will have to check out A California Christmas to see if Joseph puts love ahead of money. While there’s drama on-screen, Lauren says that the two were conflict-free when the cameras weren’t rolling even though they promised to hold one another accountable. “We made a deal that we’d say to each other, ‘Baby, step it up,’ if we felt the other wasn’t giving the best performance possible!” Lauren says.
There may be other projects for the two to star in next year, possibly a sequel to this film titled A California Christmas II: City of Lights, which could take place in San Francisco where Joseph is from or in another of the Golden State’s many cities and locales.
As Lauren developed the script, she realized that Josh would make a perfect Joseph. Then, the production company suggested she play Callie. Since the two leads are husband and wife, they were able to shoot more intimately and with less chance of transmitting potential COVID-19.
However, it sounds like the two would have been cast opposite one another even if there weren’t a pandemic. “They reassured me and said that Josh and I have perfect chemistry,” Lauren says. “It’d be a mistake for us not to do it together.”
