Ever since he failed to deliver a eulogy at his stepfather’s memorial service, General Hospital’s Cameron Webber has been greatly burdened. But that was rectified on Tuesday’s episode when the young man expressed his heartache through song. Response to the performance was swift and overwhelmingly positive, and now actor William Lipton has revealed where you can find his original effort.
The song is new; brand new to be precise. And though it’s not yet available for purchase on iTunes, Lipton provided a link to “We Weren’t Done With This Yet” via SoundCloud so that all the fans who sent him, “kind and warm message(s),” could give the number another listen.
As the young singer/songwriter explained on the SoundCloud page, the song was written to “commemorate the recent death of Franco Baldwin, the father figure to my character Cameron Webber.
“However this song is meant to extend further than that. Many of us have felt the heartbreak of losing a loved one in many different ways. The song expresses the unfairness and anger associated with an unfinished relationship.”
Lipton has previously composed “Side by Side” and “North Star” for the soap. The latter song was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in the Outstanding Original Song category.
Lipton is a talented actor for sure, but music has always been his true passion. He is a founding member of the band WJM – which stands for William, Jeremy, and Max. Through their musical endeavors, the trio has brought attention to major issues, including social injustices and the importance of voting. In 2016, they received the Youth Social Activism award at the Novus Summit at the United Nations in New York City for their charitable work.
Be sure to revisit Lipton’s incredibly moving track, which you can find here, as well as in the embedded tweet below. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
