General Hospital star Will Lipton is one talented young man. The 17-year-old has already received one Daytime Emmy nomination for Best Original Song, and we expect another one is on its way.
Will Lipton: Another Original Song
Last year, Lipton performed his own song, North Star, at the 2019 Nurses Ball, earning him that Emmy nod. This year, the socially distanced (for the most part) Nurses Ball telethon gave us The Places We Can Go, another Lipton composition that Cameron sang with Sydney Mikayla’s Trina and Eden McCoy’s Josslyn.
The Places We Can Go certainly seems like a song for the times. In 2020, there are so many places we cannot go due to the coronavirus pandemic, with people feeling stuck and even hopeless. However, we can be outside, seeing our beautiful country… and that is what GH showed us as the images behind the teens projected picturesque outdoor scenes to remind us what the planet has to offer.

This year’s Nurses Ball is much different than previous years’ in order to keep health and safety on the set. Rather than a glamorous affair with a crowd filling the Metro Court ballroom, all of our favorite characters are in jeans and t-shirts, answering calls for a telethon format, and largely keeping to themselves. There is no audience in the ballroom as characters perform just for TV cameras, almost like the speeches at the Democratic National Convention this week. (We expect to see the same at the Republican National Convention next week.)
It’s certainly a different time and a different world, as Port Charles citizens were not only raising money for AIDS research, but also money for PPE for frontline workers, giving a well-earned nod to all the men and women helping the world get through this unprecedented time.
