General Hospital Star Wally Kurth Speaks Out on Ned’s Lullaby to Brook Lynn

General Hospital fans who love Wally Kurth singing as Ned on the ABC soap got their wish earlier this week. The expectant TV grandfather (or so he thinks) performed an original song to his “pregnant” daughter in an effort to create some familial bonding.

In an emotional scene, Ned explained to Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) that he wanted to let his daughter know how excited he was to welcome his grandchild. The former Eddie Maine told Brook Lynn that he sang to her when her mother (Lois, played by Rena Sofer), was expecting. Ned asked Brook Lynn if he could recreate that moment by singing to her child, unaware that she is lying about being pregnant!

“Right here, right now, can you hear it ring from my heart to yours,” Ned sang. Both Brook Lynn and Ned’s wife Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) became emotional over Ned’s gesture. Kurth has been entertaining soap opera fans for decades with his music since he first started airing as Justin on Days of our Lives, a role he continues to play today.

“Thanks, Frank [Valentini, executive producer] for asking me to compose a song for this scene,” Kurth posted on Twitter. “A nice challenge. I wisely enlisted [my wife] Debra to help with the lyrics even though she’d never written a song before. I couldn’t be happier with my decision. We had fun collaborating, and now we have [to] write a 2nd verse!”

Kurth’s supporters voiced their support to both the actor and GH for giving the artist a platform to display his musical talents. “Thank you for giving @wallykurth a singing opportunity…it has been TOO long!” shared @KathieGunn. Added @LisaAnn5066: “It was beautifully written by you and Debra. Amazing job! I had tears before you even started to sing. Everyone was just perfect in the scene. Loved it!!!”
