This year, General Hospital star Vanessa Marcil prepared to watch her only child graduate high school and go off to college. But because this year is 2020, things did not quite go as planned. Kassius graduated virtually and began his college career the same way thanks to the coronavirus pandemic.
Despite that, she is now the mom of a young man ready to start the first chapter of his adult life whenever the fates allow and has taken to Instagram to reflect on mistakes she made along the way and also how she hopes both she and her son can heal from them. Below are her own words:
“I’ve made SO many mistakes as a mother. What can we do about it? ALOT. Take responsibility. Sit our kids down and tell them we are sorry. Let them be mad at us for as long as they need to be.
“Tell them we will do better and then WORK on ourselves. Cause when we know better we have the choice to then do better by them. Take the focus off of critiquing them and worry about healing ourselves. That change will trickle down to their children and then for generations to come. Say you are sorry today to your children and mean it. We’ve got this!!!”
Marcil has dedicated herself to being a mother, often turning down acting roles to be there for Kass over the last 18 years because parenthood comes first. However, that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t love to see her back on General Hospital as Brenda, Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) first love and the only woman who could easily give Carly (Laura Wright) a run for her money and definitely shake things up in Port Charles. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
