General Hospital star Maurice Benard definitely has a more laid back attitude and a better sense of humor than his on-screen counterpart, mobster Sonny Corinthos, Now, the actor is showing that off in a new Instagram video chronicling what it takes to begin a day of life in Port Charles.
A Morning With Maurice Benard
We first see Benard jamming to 80s music in his car as he pulls into the Prospect Studios parking lot. As soon as he parks (after telling us he once hit Tamara Braun’s car while getting into his spot), he puts on his mask because it’s 2020 and that’s just what we do whenever we’re about to see people.
First up is his COVID test, something everyone associated with GH does daily to help ensure safety on the set. Before he gets to the testing area, he runs into co-star, Maura West (Ava), who tells him to go get his nose swabbed and that he does.
Benard even admits he’s gotten used to the test and then says that he even likes the feeling. In fact, he asks for more after both nostrils are done. We will just assume he’s joking, but maybe not.
He then makes sure not to leave his script lying around or the healthcare workers administering the test might learn some Port Charles secrets. We also learn that due to COVID testing, actors have to arrive at the studio nearly two hours before their regular call time.
Once Benard makes it into the studio, he runs into a few other co-stars, including Marcus Coloma (Nikolas) and his on-screen wife, Laura Wright (Carly). By then, Benard’s mask is hanging below his nose and Wright reminds him to wear it properly. (Don’t we all want to tell people that sometimes during a simple grocery trip?) And then, Benard’s latest video comes to a close. You can see it for yourself in the Instagram post below. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
