General Hospital: Soap Hub Critic’s Week In Review

Everybody’s got an opinion…especially where their favorite daytime drama is concerned – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of General Hospital’s week that was.

General Hospital: Week In Review

It’s so nice to see a character connecting the dots…because that’s the fun truly begins. Nina (Cynthia Watros) poured through Nelle’s (Chloe Lanier) belongings and found (what appears to be) irrefutable proof that the young woman was her daughter. So what does she do next? Why decide to explore her legal rights where Wiley is concerned, of course. He is her flesh and blood after all; the grandchild that Jax (Ingo Rademacher) and Carly (Laura Wright) tried to hide from her.

And then, GH made the inspired decision to have it be Nina who will hold Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) future in her hands. She absolutely recognized his voice when she made that perfectly-timed phone call to Phyllis (Juliette Jeffers), so now it remains to be seen whether or not she’ll share her findings or keep mum just like Jax and Carly did.

And to be perfectly honest, it would serve Jax and Carly right if Nina decided to keep the news of Sonny’s resurrection all to herself. Seriously, is there a man in Nina’s life that hasn’t betrayed her? There’s been Silas (Michael Easton), Franco (Roger Howarth), Ric (Rick Hearst), Valentin (James Patrick Stuart)…And then Carly, whom Nina’s gone to bat for on many an occasion decides to keep her from the truth about her family? Nah, it’s time for karma to come-a-calling.

And speaking of karma, Peter (Wes Ramsey) has a lot of it coming his way…and none of it’s good. And the best part, is that it might be delivered not by Liesl (Kathleen Gati) or Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), but by his very own “mother.” Anna’s (Finola Hughes) finally, FINALLY starting to connect the dots and she’s realizing exactly who Peter is – a man who cannot be trusted.

Further GH Musings

* Brother, or father? Father, or brother? Finn has to know, and he has to know right now. Despite the irrevocable harm that the truth could cause. Anna’s REALLY going to have a lot to answer for when it comes to her encouraging Finn’s decision to test his and Chase’s (Josh Swickard) DNA when she’s lying about her actual relation to Peter.

* Anyone else getting the feeling that Jackie’s attempt to reunite the old “80’s gang” will dove tail into the promised memorial for Sean Donnelly? After all, Jackie, her sister Laura, and Tiffany Hill, Sean’s future wife, all lived in the same penthouse for a time back in the decade of greed.

* And speaking of Laura Templeton, kudos to GH for offering the on-screen mention. Many of us fans were beginning to wonder if Jackie’s little sis had been retconned out of existence.

* When Jackie was recapping her Jason Morgan-related research material, why did she fail to mention the fact that Scotty was once Jason’s STEP-FATHER, via his marriage to Susan Moore? General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
