The General Hospital recap for Thursday, September 19, 2019, features more threats from Cassandra, the Jackal’s return and the worst, most boring trial to be featured on a daytime drama in ages.
Germaphobe Cassandra (Jessica Tuck) was busy bleaching the Port Charles holding cell but she was able to take time out of her busy schedule to spar with Sonny (Maurice Benard).
She let him know that gossip on the grapevine has it that Sonny’s associates are no longer pleased with his performance and he’d be well to watch his back.
Later, Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) arrived and Cassandra tried to elicit his help under threat of using Claudette — the surrogate who carried Charlotte — against him but a smug Valentin revealed that Cassandra had counted her chickens before they were hatched — Claudette has long since flown her stifling coop. Score one for Valentin!
Maxie (Kirsten Storms) was delighted to see that Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) had returned to Port Charles for a visit. However, her joy would no doubt turn to anger if she discovered he is only there to play spy for Jason (Steve Burton). And his target: Peter August (Wes Ramsey).
What should have been The Trial of The (Soap Opera) Century — The People vs. David Henry Archer aka Shiloh (Coby Ryan McLaughlin) — was relegated to a few short scenes with the prosecution’s witnesses — Harmony (Inga Cadranel), Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) and Sam (Kelly Monaco) taking the stand so quickly their presence barely even registered.
And the one question that could have elicited the most drama — concerning Sam and her relationship with the defendant’s father — was quickly glossed over following an objection over relevance. Finally, Shiloh took the stand himself.
