General Hospital Recap: Franco Is Free, Nikolas Is Back

The General Hospital recap for October 28-November 1, 2019 features the return of a long lost and much-lamented Port Chuckian — and a major medical emergency.

General Hospital Recap: Weekly Highlights

Why is it that characters on soap operas continually dismiss the possibility that a presumed dead loved one can suddenly be alive, well, and intermingling amongst the living?

Take for instance Laura Collins (Genie Francis) who buried both her mother and youngest son only to turn around and find them standing before her in the flesh – heck, Laura herself was assumed to have been killed by David Grey before making like Lazarus and surprising the heck out of everybody mourning her passing.

And yet, she refused to believe Ava’s (Maura West) insistence that a disguised Nikolas (Marcus Coloma) had followed her back to the art gallery and revealed himself to her — a turn of events that lead the normally-composed Ms. Jerome to swoon into her former bestie’s arms.

Trouble For Ava

Granted, Ava probably smelled like a distillery — that happens when you drown your sorrows in martinis and straight-up gin — and yes she couldn’t corroborate her story with physical evidence (though that’s probably because a fast-thinking Nikolas fiddled with the security cameras).

But taking into account the fact that the Cassadine Prince’s body was never found and given the family’s predisposition for magical resurrection (seriously how many times was Helena “killed”?) why is it so unbelievable that Nikolas did indeed don a Eyes Wide Shut-style mask, crash a Halloween party, and then saunter over to his former partner-in-crime’s place of business just to say hello?

But disbelieve Ava is exactly what Laura did. That, and she convinced the still-grieving mother to check herself into Shadybrook — a pointlessly needed exercise considering Nikolas (still sauntering) was in Jax’s (Ingo Rademacher) living room awaiting an update on the infamous codicil.

Revenge

Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) finally began to feel the effects of Kendra’s (Michelle Argyris) poisoned dietary complement. Initially, her symptoms mimicked the flu but after Molly (Haley Pullos) rushed her to GH, painful rashes began to appear on her palms and feet, leading Finn (Michael Easton) to realize this was much more than a common bug.

Weekly Musings

Which character wore the most apropos costume to the Metro Court’s Feed America Halloween Bash? Surely, a top-four list must include Laura as the Queen of Hearts, Molly as Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Curtis (Donnell Turner) as the one and only Sherlock Holmes, and Ava’s take on a pistol-packing Cruella de Vil.

Raise your hand if you were surprised that Cassandra Pierce (Jessica Tuck) wound up being Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) cellmate at Pentonville. We realize that it’s a soap but wouldn’t a career criminal who is also facing charges in international court be placed in solitary confinement?

Anyone else crossing their fingers that Cameron’s (William Lipton) little escapade with the bottle of booze on The Haunted Star doesn’t adversely affect his probation that hasn’t yet been completed?

After all, he was going through a hard time considering that the judge let Franco roam free still believing he was Drew. At least Dranco finally realized Kim may not be playing with a full deck and it’s best if he not skip Port Charles with this woman. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC.
