General Hospital Recap: A Port Charles Carson Extravaganza

The General Hospital recap for June 15-19, 2020 features a look back at the love story of Carly and Sonny and their associated highs and (the even more frequent) lows.

General Hospital Recap Highlights

For three weeks, it was  all about the Nurses Ball. For the past five days, it was all about Carson. Viewers were able to relive declarations of love, tender moments, one of the couple’s nicer weddings, and a masterfully-executed showdown.

Love In A Time of Crisis

You can’t keep Carly (Laura Wright) and Sonny (Maurice Benard) down – or apart – for very long. Brenda Barrett (Vanessa Marcil), Jax (Ingo Rademacher), Lorenzo (Ted King), they all tried it, and they all failed. As did evil terrorist Jerry Jacks (Sebastian Roche).

And Sonny and Carly are also the types who wouldn’t allow a pesky thing like a hostage crisis to deter them for being there for another…and confessing their true feelings for one another.

Best Advice

Even when they’re not together, the only people who can get through to either Sonny or Carly is Sonny or Carly. So, when Sonny decided to forgo his lithium, it was up to Carly to talk him around and convince him to resume his much-needed regimen.

Thoroughly Modern Corinthos’s

The one thing that Sonny and Carly can never be accused of is doing anything by in the normal, traditional style. They can’t have simple vow exchanges. Oh no. These two find it far more comfortable uttering those all-important words in a hospital chapel only days after the groom survived (enormously) risky surgery to remove the bullet that had been fired into him on what was supposed to be their “normal” wedding day.

(Another) Tragedy Strikes

Sonny and Carly are great parents. Okay, they’re good parents. Well…they’re parents. But since they operate on the less-than-legal side of the law, every once in a while, problems like the accidental assassination of child crop up. And Carly was right to blame Sonny for Morgan’s (Bryan Craig) death.

Sure, the boy didn’t die from a bomb planted by Sonny’s man – it was actually because of a bomb planted on the orders of Olivia Jerome (Tonja Walker). But he did die (or did he?) because of Sonny’s underworld ties.

However, the truth remains that Carly and Sonny just can’t quit each other. They weathered Morgan’s passing – and placed the blame squarely on Ava’s shoulders – and, truth be told, they will most likely continue to weather whatever else life throws their way. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
