ABC, with General Hospital leading the way, coined the phrase “love in the afternoon.” Now General Hospital is the only soap left standing. So they need to do all the loving for all of us. Who almost 3,000 fans named as their favorite couple for 2019:
General Hospital: Frankly Franco
It doesn’t matter that he spent a good chunk of the year insisting he was someone else, 40% of the audience still voted Franco (Roger Howarth) and Liz (Rebecca Herbst) as their faves.
And it’s not like these two are exactly consistent. Liz went from scheming bad girl to everybody’s favorite victim. And Franco went from serial killer to cuddly daddy substitute. This memory transplant thing was just another hiccup.
Chillow About Willow
They weren’t the most exciting couple of 2019, but 30% of you enjoyed Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and Chase’s (Josh Swickard) low key romance. He was there for her, she was there for him, nobody lied (much) and everyone was happy (mostly). Let’s have more of that!

Only 18% went for Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly (Laura Wright) this time around. They had a baby. Her name is Donna — have you heard? Donna was going to have special needs. Now she doesn’t. Everything always works out for Sonny and Carly.
Our Nexis
Maybe the reason a mere 10% of General Hospital fans voted for Neil and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) is that they’re the only ones who realized these two were supposed to be a couple. Are they even officially dating? Can we have some clarification in 2020?
End Of the Road
Then again, Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) had a whole wedding, and less than 2% voted for them. Maybe it’s because Nina was recast halfway through the romance. Or maybe it was because Valentin has been lying to her for months. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
