There are too many people who have had to say goodbye to someone special due to the coronavirus pandemic and now General Hospital star James Patrick Stuart can sadly count himself among them.
“I’ve known people who have survived COVID but unfortunately now find myself having lost a friend of 25 years to it. Hard not to wonder if he’d still be alive if we’d collectively been given more coherent direction earlier on & all been willing to follow it.”
Stuart is referring to the refusal of many to social distance and wear masks, as well as all 50 states having their own way to deal with the virus rather than a national plan for a country that rightly and freely allows interstate travel (meaning the virus can go to any state it wants as long as people can).
Over the months, Stuart has been an advocate of mask-wearing, as studies have shown areas with more mask compliance shows less incidence of virus transmission.
“I wear a mask to protect YOU. Studies indicate that if I’m contagious but wear a mask & you don’t, transmission probability is about 5%. But if YOU were the contagious one & wore no mask, even if I wear one, transmission probability is 70%. So my mask is for YOU,” he tweeted back in July.
Soap Hub sends condolences to the actor on his loss. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
