General Hospital C&G News
Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring, or day player roles? Are any well-remembered or beloved stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join the General Hospital fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the ABC soap.
The week of September 20, 2021
After a three-year run, Briana Nicole Henry has opted to exit her role as Jordan Ashford. “I decided it was time for me to move on,” said the actress in an Instagram post, adding that she had “nothing but love and support from everyone involved” with the soap. The character was sent off to Albany for medical treatment.
Also gone, albeit only temporarily, is Sofia Mattsson as Sasha Gilmore. The actress, who recently gave birth to her first child, is currently on maternity leave and will be off the canvas for a while.
Meanwhile, a popular actress is returning. Lexi Ainsworth appears as Kristina Corinthos-Davis, this week. She’ll appear in scenes with Maura West when Ava approaches her with a special request.
General Hospital History
GH made its debut in 1963 and is the second longest-running daytime soap opera in American history. The longest-running soap is Guiding Light. While it’s not the longest-running serial, General Hospital is the longest-running soap opera currently on air.
The daytime drama outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households! From legendary Laura’s (Genie Francis) many decades on and off and back on as the show’s leading heroine to Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) exploits to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his mobster activities, GH certainly knows how to please its viewers.
Current Soap Operas
It is one of four soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include Days of our Lives (DOOL), The Young and the Restless (YR), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
