Along with medical storylines, General Hospital has seen its share of on-screen legal dramas over the years. Now, the show is headed for a real one — former GH actor Ingo Rademacher is suing ABC and parent company Disney over its company-ordered vaccine mandate, which resulted in the actor exiting the show last month.
Ingo Rademacher Lawsuit
TMZ reports that Ingo Rademacher is suing ABC, calling the mandate to be vaccinated against COVID-19 unconstitutional. The case was filed in Los Angeles. The actor is claiming he requested ABC for a “religious exemption” from being vaccinated but that that request was denied. Rademacher says he was interviewed for 30 minutes during which time he was asked to provide evidence to support his religious status/exemption claim.
Per documents related to the case, Rademacher, who played Jasper “Jax” Jacks on and off for 25 years, lays out a history of vaccines, saying these were developed under the President Trump Administration, causing a lot of Democrats to be skeptical at first. Rademacher, who has been outspoken on social media about the vaccine mandate, calls the COVID-19 lockdowns the “most draconian restrictions in modern history.” The actor is asking the court to proclaim ABC’s vaccine mandate as “unconstitutional” and he wants damages.
Jax’s Exit From GH
Rademacher taped his last appearance on the show earlier this fall. Viewers last saw Jax in scenes that aired on November 22, 2021. Jax informed ex-wife Carly (Laura Wright) that he was going back to Australia and he wasn’t sure when or if he’d be back in Port Charles.
Steve Burton (ex-Jason) also exited GH over the vaccine mandates but he is not a part of this lawsuit. He first joined the show in 1991 as Jason Quartermaine. Burton played the role until 2012. After a stint at The Young and the Restless as Dylan, Burton returned to Port Charles, reprising Jason. Currently, the character is presumed dead but Jason’s been presumed dead in the past.
