As the season gets colder, and the days longer, soap fans long for a holiday filled with nostalgia, family, and drama from their favorite daytime shows. Soap Hub takes a look at a few standout episodes of General Hospital from Christmases past.

Classic Christmas Episodes For General Hospital

Christmas at the Hospital in Port Charles
Nobody likes to be sick for Christmas, but it is especially hard for kids. Dr. Steve Hardy (John Beradino) started the tradition of reading a Christmas story to the children stuck in the pediatric ward over the holidays. When he passed away from a sudden heart attack, the honor was gifted to Dr. Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon). The year after Alan died in 2007, his grieving widow, Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) was gifted with a pair of glasses that allowed her to see her deceased husband once more. The opportunity allowed her and GH fans a chance to enjoy the on-screen couple’s bickering banter and bear witness to the special kind of love they shared.

A Devil for Christmas?
In 2014, Dr. Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) was chosen to take part in the annual General Hospital Christmas Story reading. But in the episode, the cheeky doc replaced the classic Christmas tale with The Krampus, the story of a mythical devil that hails from the South Pole and likes to eat children. Needless to say, it was comfort served cold to the terrified tykes, who definitely got the message about being naughty or nice. A fun watch for GH fans.

Finn Gets Scrooged
A very special Christmas episode in 2019 found Dr. Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) discouraged about life. Writers crafted a memorable take on Charles Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol.” In a fantastical dream, Finn is Ebenezer Scrooge, Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) is Bob Cratchit, Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) is his servant, Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) is a man in need of a charitable donation, and Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), Liesel Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) and Ava Jerome (Maura West) are the Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present, and Future.

A Christmas Miracle
Things may be rosy for Kristina Corinthos Davis (Lexi Ainsworth) now, but the young lady had a rocky start. In 2004, when she was just a baby, Kristina grew ill and was required to undergo stem cell surgery. In the process, it was discovered that she was the product of a one-night stand between Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), due to a match between Kristina and Sam McCall’s (Kelly Monaco) stillborn child (her daughter Lila was also fathered by Sonny; years later Alexis was revealed as Sam’s mom, so she’s Kristina’s half-sister). Sonny and Alexis, thankful for their Christmas miracle, put aside their differences and had Kristina baptized for the holidays.
