Christmas can’t come quick enough for General Hospital fans as a new holiday movie will give them the chance to see Donnell Turner, who has played Curtis Ashford since 2015 on the ABC soap, in a whole new way — along with a couple of beloved General Hospital alums.
Turner will be joined by Teresa Castillo (ex-Nurse Sabrina Santiago) and Mark Lawson (ex-Dustin Phillips), and the new holiday film is arriving this winter. Written by Kathryn Dow and John Forgetta, the film, Most Wanted Santa, is currently in production and is being directed by Kristin Fairweather.
Turner didn’t reveal too much about his role in the upcoming film, but he did promote the new project on his Instagram story. He first shared a repost from award-winning special effects & beauty makeup artist Taylor Schulte’s Instagram story, of him posing for the camera. On the next slide, he was in a photo shoot next to Denyce Lawton, who will be playing Harper Winslow in the movie. Turner captioned the short video, “MOST WANTED SANTA DEC 3RD!”
Castillo took to Instagram recently to announce the project and shared a photo from the set with a friend on the production team. “My jaw dropped when I walked on set yesterday and saw this BADASS LATINA @mariscela Mariscela Mendez behind the camera as Director of Photography,” the actress wrote. “Such a huge sense of pride came over me watching her command the room and do her thing. Si se puede, mi gente!!!”
Another of Castillo’s posts was a TikTok of her getting makeup applied and ready for the day’s shoot. While she didn’t reveal any details about her character, IMDb notes she’ll be playing Carly Lopez, and eagle-eye viewers of her first post will see a police badge on her clothes, so it’s a good bet that she’ll be among the team looking for the “Most Wanted” Santa Claus in the movie’s title.
Lawson also took to his Instagram account on one of the days of filming, showing a funny video of trying to memorize lines while his daughters are clamoring away, eating at the table, distracting him. “When your Mr. Mom day #6 and you’re running lines in the mind cave,” he posted, adding a hashtag that his “mind is mush.”
His character’s name is Matthew McDowell, while Donnell Turner plays Chris North. Turner is the only of the trio still on the Port Charles canvas, with Dustin having died at the hands of the bomb Julian Jerome (William deVry) planted, and poor Sabrina meeting her end when she was murdered by serial killer Paul Hornsby (Richard Burgi).
Curtis has plenty on his mind these days. He recently shared a tender goodbye with his almost-ex-wife, Jordan (Briana Nicole Henry), as she’s gone to Albany to get help with renal failure. Recently, he had been pursuing something with former love, Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr). Did Jordan almost dying make him realize how much he still loves her?
