Daytime Favorite Billy Miller Celebrates His Birthday

The residents of Port Charles maybe mourning Drew Cain whose wrecked plane was found floating in the Gulf of Aiden but actor Billy Miller certainly has a reason to celebrate.

That’s because he was born on September 17, 1979, in Tulsa Oklahoma, which means that this talented performer is turning 40 years old today! A case of mismanagement on the part of Miller’s first agent resulted in the budding actor losing both a role on CBS’ As the World Turns and his confidence in his plan to pursue an acting career.

After a 24-month hiatus from the audition circuit, Miller returned and landed a guest role on the hit procedural series CSI: New York. A year later he was hired by the executive producer of All My Children and debuted as ne’er-do-well Richie Novak.

When the character was written out in 2008, Miller was immediately hired at The Young and the Restless to take over the role of legacy character Billy Abbott, becoming the fourth actor to inhabit the role.

Miller remained at the CBS network soap for six years and his performance earned him five Daytime Emmy Award nominations and he took home the statuette for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series three times (2010, 2013 and 2014).

In 2014, Billy Miller joined the cast of another daytime sudser. This time it was ABC’s General Hospital and he had been hired to take over the highly coveted part of Jason Quartermaine which had been played by Steve Burton for over two decades.

Miller won over many fans with his work as Jason but when Burton became available for a return appearance the writers scripted a complex tale that would culminate in the reveal that Miller had actually been playing Jason’s heretofore unknown twin brother Chief Petty Officer Andrew Cain.

Miller transitioned into his new role and remained a part of the cast until the summer of 2019. Outside of his work on daytime, Miller is known for guest spots on many primetime series including Justified, Castle and Major Crimes and recurring roles on Ringer a serial that aired on The CW and Showtime’s Ray Donovan.

Soap Hub would like to wish Billy Miller a very happy birthday and you many more. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
