Why GH’s Ava Jerome Should Hook Up With Cyrus

Ava Jerome arrived on General Hospital as a mafia princess with a past. She bore Sonny’s child, as all Port Charles women are required to…by law. Then, thankfully, she moved on with the more interesting parts of her life. She met her match in a real-life Prince, Nikolas Cassadine. There was a lot of love there.

But also a lot of cheating, deception, lying, and, in the end, a bonk over the head, which led Ava to think she’d killed Nik, which led to some blackmail by Austin. That led to Nik being alive, Austin being dead, and Ava being single again. Which is good because the perfect man for her is also currently single. Ava and Cyrus should show Port Charles what a real power couple can do.

Bad and Loving It

Ava (Maura West) is no saint, herself. And she grew up surrounded by some really, really bad people. Then there was, of course, Sonny (Maurice Benard). And the aforementioned Nik. Austin (Roger Howarth). Cyrus (Jeff Kober) isn’t any worse than Ava’s past nearest and dearest. Plus, he’s sexy. And, he can be charming when he wants to be. What’s not to like?

Sure, he’s a convicted criminal, freshly out of prison. But so is Drew (Cameron Mathison). And nobody holds that against him. How many times has Sonny been to jail? Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) married a serial killer, for Pete’s sake! If Franco (also Howarth) could be reformed and embraced by polite society, how hard could it be for Cyrus to do the same?

And if Cyrus doesn’t want to, well, that’s fine, too. Ava must be pretty fed up by now with people who are very, very bad, trying to gaslight her into thinking they are very, very good. Wouldn’t it be nicer for her to be with a non-Popeye version of, “I am what I am, and that’s all that I am?” Sure, there’s his weird religious bent. But she can live with that. This team-up could enliven GH!
