For months, General Hospital’s Josslyn Jacks seemed to get a rush out of her false belief that she was in the middle of a forbidden love story she had to hide from the big, bad mobster who helped raise her, but that turned out to be the furthest thing from the truth.
Josslyn (Eden McCoy) must have really been bored continuing her high school romance with Cameron (William Lipton) into their college years because as soon as someone who seemed much more exciting came along, it was like, “Cam, who?”
After all, Dex (Evan Hofer) had it all. He was handsome and dangerous, and they’d have to keep their relationship a secret because that horrible mobster Sonny (Maurice Benard) would surely kill Dex if he ever learned his new enforcer was sleeping with his former stepdaughter.
She even used that deathly fear to convince Cam to keep quiet when he learned why she really broke up with him, begging Cam not to say anything because she had to save Dex from certain death at Sonny’s furious hands. Over and over again, Josslyn insisted that if Sonny ever knew how Dex spends his time after hours, he would have Dex shot on the spot because that’s what mean mobsters do. It didn’t matter to Josslyn that she was fine using Sonny’s mobster money throughout her childhood. He divorced her mommy so, of course, he would kill her boyfriend.
Well, that wasn’t what happened. As any fan who knows Sonny could predict, he really couldn’t care less when he learned the truth about Joss and Dex. In fact, he figured it out on his own months ago because he is a human with a pulse and eyes. He didn’t care then, he doesn’t care now and pronounced that he is not the romance police, and these two kids could do what they wanted.
Okay, so now what happens? Even Michael (Chad Duell) knows Joss and Dex are together and, after his initial shock, just shrugged it off. Yes, Sonny still has to learn that Dex has been working for Michael this whole time to take him down, but that really has nothing to do with Josslyn.
At this point, Josslyn and Dex are free to date out in the open. They can go to the movies, throw some axes, sing some karaoke, and really do whatever they want. That means they can come up for air and do something aside from having sex in his apartment or her dorm room.
That also means they will have to talk and get to know one another. It could be a shock to their system now that Josslyn’s self-delusions on how important she is to Sonny have been quashed. Will they even like each other now that their imaginary biggest obstacle is gone? Time will tell.
