General Hospital’s Scout Just Learned the Wrong Lesson From Drew

Scout’s relationship with Drew is getting worse as his restrictions push her toward secret plans with Rocco.

Scout has spent weeks on General Hospital asking Drew for one simple thing: let her see the people she loves. Instead, every attempt has been met with another rule, another warning, or another reminder that Drew thinks he knows what is best for her. Now Scout is no longer trying to convince her father. She is learning how to work around him, and that may be the most damaging lesson Drew has taught her yet.

Key Takeaways

  • Drew keeps refusing to let Scout spend time with Danny and the Davis family.
  • Rocco encouraged Scout to secretly work around her father’s rules.
  • Scout admitted she was happier when Drew could not control as much of her life.
  • Drew’s attempts to protect Scout may be teaching her how to hide things from him instead.

Drew’s Rules Are Pushing Scout Away

In the August 10 episode, Drew (Cameron Mathison) made it clear that Scout (Kayden Brenna Tokarski) was not allowed to spend time with Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) because he considered him reckless and dangerous. Jason (Steve Burton) even pointed out that Scout did not want this, but Drew refused to budge. By the end of the episode, Scout was crying to Rocco (Finn Carr) because her father had decided she could not see her brother anymore.

Later, Scout had already started changing how she handled Drew. She told Rocco that she had pretended to understand her father’s position even though she did not. Scout then admitted that doing what her father wanted rarely felt right for her. That is a pretty fast shift from pleading her case to telling Dad what he wants to hear.

The sad part is that Scout is not trying to rebel for fun. She wants Danny, the Davis family, and the people who make her feel connected to her late mom, Sam (ex-Kelly Monaco). Drew believes he is protecting her, but he is steadily making honesty feel less useful than strategy.

Rocco Helps Scout Learn to Hide Things From Drew

Friday made the problem much clearer when Scout admitted that her life had been easier while Drew was in the wheelchair. She broke down immediately after saying it, then explained how much she missed living with her mother’s family. Rocco understood, which gave Scout exactly the safe place Drew had failed to provide.

Then Rocco offered a solution: make Drew think she is following his rules and do what she wants anyway. Soon they were planning secret meetings, and when Drew texted that he was coming, Scout got back into the pool and pretended she had been swimming the whole time. That is not exactly a ringing endorsement of the current father-daughter relationship.

Drew may think tighter control will keep Scout safe, but all it is doing is teaching her how to conceal things from him. Once a child decides honesty only leads to another restriction, the rules stop creating trust and start creating better lies.
