Esme Prince may want to study Brenda Barrett's GH path.
Esme Prince is at that awkward in-between stage on General Hospital. She committed some horrible crimes…but now she can’t remember any of them. Also, she’s a new mom, she just learned (again) that two psychopaths are her biological parents, and she’s trying to reconcile who everyone is telling her she was with who she believes she is now.
That’s a tough burden for a teenager to bear. Luckily, Esme has a role model to emulate. Especially when it comes to going from bad girl to beloved heroine. And her name is Brenda Barrett.
No way, we can hear you screaming. How dare you compare the classy, lovely, loving, saintly Brenda (Vanessa Marcil) to the vile, lying, scheming seductress Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl)? That’s an insult to GH fans!
But we would like to draw your attention to Brenda’s early days in Port Charles, almost 30 years ago. Brenda was an angry high school student, ignored by her rich daddy. Brenda wanted smoldering, sexy Jagger (Antonio Sabato Jr). Jagger, however, for reasons Brenda could not understand, was besotted by that boring drip, Karen.
So what did Brenda do? Brenda took pictures of Karen changing in the school’s locker room and then distributed those photos around to all their classmates. That’s what mean girls did back in the days before phone cameras and the internet, kiddies.
Was this exactly what Esme did to Cam (William Lipton) and Joss (Eden McCoy)? No. Was it kind of close? Yeah…
Brenda was able to get past her youthful crimes and strike up a fan-favorite romance with everybody’s favorite mobster, Sonny (Maurice Benard). While we’re not suggesting Esme could take Sonny’s nephew, Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez), away from Trina (Tabyana Ali). But maybe there’s another thug who could fill that role? Port Charles is full of them!
