Soap fans always have fantasy stories we just want to see even if we know it will likely never happen, and the professional soap fans who run Soap Hub are no exception. For this writer, Vanessa Marcil bringing Brenda back to General Hospital would be a dream come true. With Sonny now having amnesia, it would also be the perfect time, right?
Our Ultimate General Hospital Wish
What if memories suddenly start flooding back into Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) mind while he’s tending bar one night and those memories are of his first love in Port Charles — Brenda Barrett — who some still consider to be Sonny’s one true love.
Imagine that he returns to town to the relief of a joyous Carly (Laura Wright) and doesn’t remember any of their time together and just wants to know where Brenda is. He’s desperate to see her and Carly is infuriated. In her mind, she should be the only person Sonny wants after all these years. She conveniently forgets she was married to Jax (Ingo Rademacher) and even slept with him in recent years while still married to Sonny. (Technically, they were on a semi-break after Morgan’s death.)

In Comes Brenda
Sonny will have no problem using his clout to track down Brenda in Europe and when he does, he begs her to return to PC so he can see if she still wants him. Of course, we have no idea what Brenda’s really been up to the last few years, so she may not want to oblige.
Make It Happen, GH
In our fantasy scenario, she eventually returns and one look at Sonny brings all those feelings back. Could they try again? Would it be real since Sonny has no memory of his life with Carly? We all know at some point all of Sonny’s memories will return but by then will he realize he and Brenda were meant to be this whole time — and without the mob life she never wanted? A soap site can dream, right? (And this can also free Carly up for Jax or Jason, which would certainly shake things up.) General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC.
