A Critic’s Review Of General Hospital: Tying Up Storylines & Other Things Remiss

When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.

General Hospital: The Critic’s POV

Egad! We’re three months into 2023 and STILL clearing the decks (read: wrapping up storylines years — and in some cases, years and years — in the making), and there are no clear endings in sight.

There has LONG been a question as to Trina’s (Tabyana Ali) paternity, and despite all interested parties finally being clued into the conundrum, it looks like we’ll go on wanting as far as concrete answers are concerned.

Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) are still estranged and still resolved to take down Linc (Dan Buran) and Linc is still harassing away.

Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) is still dying, and still being a real martyr about it, but — fingers and toes well and truly crossed — that may soon be rectified…but even then we’ll still have to suffer Willow’s self-righteous indignation where Nina (Cynthia Watros) is concerned. To that, I say boo and hiss! Boo and hiss!

Mercenary Mason (Nathanyael Grey), a walking enigma if there ever was one, has got his hot little hands on Nikolas (Adam Huss), so he won’t be dipping out of the story anytime soon, but I doubt that means will get any closer to understanding his endgame — assuming that General Hospital head honchos Chris and Dan/Dan and Chris know what Mason’s endgame even is.

What do you think? Post a comment!

Following the absolute highlight of the week, Eileen (Heather Mazur) was conscripted into Operation “Bring Down Victor” but I can’t help but feel we’ve got another two-three months of this slow-moving mess on our hands. And then there’s Dr. Liesl Obrecht’s (Kathleen Gati) grief-turned-to-anger against Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst). Let’s hope that rolls into some explosive scenes for GH’s 60th. Hey, GH has got to have something in the can for the 60th anniversary and May Sweeps. Right?

All I can say is thank goodness The Hook storyline has been wrapped. Was it done concisely? Hardly. Suitably? Barely. But at least it’s over.

Further GH Musings

* Speaking of never-ending stories, I’d be remiss if I didn’t give brief mention — which is more than General Hospital seems willing to do — to “Mac Is Really Cody Bell’s Papa”, “Michael and Dex Are Out To Get Sonny” and “Gladys Corbin Is Gambling Away Sasha’s Dough”. A little movement on…well, any of these fronts would be greatly appreciated.

* Get out of town! Are TJ (Tajh Bellow) and Molly (Haley Pullos) actually getting a storyline all their own?! No, probably not. I’m predicting this whole “Baby Fever” plot gets swept to the wayside in two weeks’ time.
