They’ve been spreading their big news all over Port Charles; announcing they’re getting married to friends and family and getting some seriously mixed reviews. But General Hospital longtime besties Carly Corinthos and Jason Morgan’s wedding absolutely can’t happen.
General Hospital: Stone Cold and Stalwart
There are many reasons why — starting with the fact that Jason (Steve Burton) has always been a power guy. He’s fearless and stalwart; a man who doesn’t get forced into doing anything. So why have him buckle so easily? Surely, his and Carly’s (Laura Wright) nuptials can’t be the only way to prove they’re a strong united front at the helm of the Corinthos family.
Wouldn’t Jason have tried harder to beat the rival Novak clan into submission? He already blew up one of their warehouses to show he meant business. Couldn’t he have made an even harsher move to prove he was in charge; a move that would have made the Novaks rue the day they dared to mess with the Corinthos organization?
GH: Loyalty to Sonny Corinthos
Sonny (Maurice Benard) hasn’t even been gone a year. So having Jason and Carly tie the knot so soon is disrespectful to his memory, even if it is strictly for business reasons. And isn’t that what crime families are all about…respect? It sends a bad message about the pair’s allegiance to the man they both claimed to love.

General Hospital: Messy Gets Messier
Jason’s (Steve Burton) love life was already a complicated mess. He started a relationship with Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) before ever dealing with his unresolved feelings for Sam (Kelly Monaco). He’s not in the right emotional place to make a new commitment to anyone before he takes care of his past.
Then there’s the fact that his longtime pal Carly will suddenly become stepmom to his sons, Jake and Danny. The situation is bound to confuse both boys (never mind their mothers); hence it’s a move someone like Jason would never make.
GH: Carly Corinthos At A Crossroads
The idea of Carly actually exchanging “I Do’s” with Jason is impossible to imagine. She’s been holding onto her love for Sonny since he was presumed dead. She only recently found the strength to remove her wedding ring. So how on earth is she going to be able to stand before a minister and pledge herself to Jason with all those feelings still lingering so strongly? It’s not possible or plausible for someone who loves as hard as Carly.
