Soap veteran Lindsay Hartley enjoyed nine years of playing Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald Crane on NBC’s Passions and went on to other daytime roles including Arianna Hernandez on Days of our Lives and Cara Castillo on All My Children. But the popular actress hasn’t been back on daytime since filling in for Kelly Monaco as Sam temporarily on General Hospital more than a year ago for a very good reason.
That’s because Hartley has certainly been keeping herself busy — just not in front of the cameras. Last year, Lindsay Hartley made her directorial debut with the thriller, Mommy Is A Murderer, and the directing bug certainly hit her as she has been working non-stop behind the camera ever since.
In fact, Hartley shared her accomplishments in a recent Instagram post. “Wrapped my 5th movie this year,” she wrote. “I am very grateful to the production companies who trusted me to direct their projects.”
The other films she directed—all TV movies scheduled to be released in the next year, are Prisoner of Love, The Nanny Knows, The Beauty of Love and Deadly Debutantes: A Night to Die For. “I’m not sure if I’ll ever get a streak like that again,” Hartley shared on her post. “So just embracing this atm. thank you to all the talented casts and crews; could not have done this without you.”
One of the actors who stars in one of her new movies is Sean Kanan (ex AJ, GH; ex-Deacon, B&B and Y&R). “Lindsay you are a terrific director and your sensibilities as an actor were invaluable,” he replied to her post. “Thank you for the opportunity to work with you.”
To which, Lindsay Hartley sent a blushing reply. “Aww Sean! You are super kind and extremely talented. Grateful we were finally able to work together after so many years running in similar circles,” she wrote. “Thank you for your thought and care in playing your character 🙏💜 to a few days left!!”
A few days earlier, Hartley posted a photo of her and Kanan together and talked about what an “amazing experience” working with him and the “uber-talented group” was. Eric Martsolf, her former co-star on both Passions (Ethan) and DAYS (Brady Black), also sent words of encouragement. “Proud of you,” he wrote, to which she sent a blushing emoticon back.
While we’re looking forward to seeing Hartley’s new work, we’re still longing to see her back on daytime. Will some savvy soap pick her up? Perhaps GH after she did a great job filling in for Monaco? It wouldn’t be the soap’s first time doing that.
