It looks like Ryan’s reign of terror is about to come to an end on General Hospital. (Of course, we also thought that back in the mid-1990s — and look how wrong we were!)
But, will you miss your friendly neighborhood serial killer once he’s gone? We heard from 11,000 fans about this!
Good Riddance
Not even a little, a landslide 94% of you dismiss. The guy never had any nuance. He was just a baddie who wanted to kill people, break up his brother’s marriage to Laura (Genie Francis), and sleep with Ava (Maura West).
We didn’t even get the pleasure of seeing some vets on our screens as, this time around, Ryan (Jon Lindstrom) had no interest in Felicia (Kristina Wagner) or Maxie (Kirsten Storms), while Kevin’s best friend, Mac (John J. York), and ex-wife, Lucy (Lynne Herring), failed to pick up on any of the clues that might have suggested Kevin had been replaced by his psycho twin.
Ryan killed Kiki (Hayley Erin). Ryan almost killed Lulu (Emme Rylan). Ryan killed some day players and, back in Texas, he killed a woman named Smith and a woman named Jones (which also used to be Felicia’s married name), suggesting creativity is not his thing.
He’s been a very boring villain. You won’t miss him.
Hit and Miss
It was nice to have a real villain on the canvas, for a change, 6% of the audience counters. GH goes out of its way to make us sympathize with killers like Sonny (Maurice Benard), Jason (Steve Burton), and Franco (Roger Howarth).
It’s nice to be able to actually judge somebody for being a baddie, and to feel like they might actually get their comeuppance, instead of a golden key to the city and the love of all and sundry. You’ll miss that….
