Anna had been waffling around with little to do since Duke died and Finn was left in the lurch with the inexplicable firing of Rebecca Budig’s Hayden. So, the soap took lemons and made lemonade.
Anna and Finn make us laugh, make us cry, make us smile, and keep us coming back for more. They’re mature, refreshing, romantic, AND hilarious. Is there a better combination than that?
Best Performance, Maura West
She’s Maura West, what can we say? If Ava feels it, we feel it. When she’s angry, we get angry with her. When she’s grieving, we shed tears as well. When she’s spitting out insults, we cheer her on.
West keeps us glued to the screen, keeps Soap Hub loving a flawed and vengeful character, and gives that character so many layers it could take decades to peel them all. And we are willing to wait if we get decades more of West.
Funniest Line(s)
Okay, we have to throw this in there because there are two lines we will NEVER forget from 2018. One from Carly Corinthos and one from her mortal enemy, Ava Jerome.
“Morgan loved penguins.” Sorry, GH, we are not sure if you were going for poignancy here or just wanted to make us laugh till we cried. But, when Nelle pulled out that penguin mobile and Carly lost it, we lost it too. But, not in the way that Carly did.
And proving she can dish it, but Carly can barely take it, Ava had the perfect comeback when Carly called the mother who just buried her daughter and was standing by her daughter’s grave insane. “OK, Ferncliff” just about summed up our feelings at that moment. Thank you, Carly. And thank you, Ava.
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
