Sure, we all suspected Ryan was alive after Kevin started acting strangely. First, he needed Faison’s brain (we’re still not 100% sure why) and then we KNEW he had a secret stashed at Ferncliff.
But, the fact that GH was genius enough to do this story and give Jon Lindstrom his meatiest story in decades was a huge — and welcome — surprise.
Most Topical Story, #MeToo
GH is the one soap that’s showed its socially conscious side over the last two years, tackling humane immigration, the opioid crisis, election interference, the environment (fracking in PC leading to an earthquake), and finally #MeToo.
When Dr. Bensch took a little too much interest in Kiki, we knew what was coming. And, ALL of it worked.
From the little gathering at Alexis’s where a diverse group of women all had one thing in common (aggressive men), to the trial that showed a woman gets to choose who she has sex with, this story barely missed a beat.

Sure, we weren’t sure if GH ruined things when Kiki slept with co-worker, Griffin, but like we said, Alexis was able to use that fact to show women are sexual beings — and women make sexual choices that need to be respected.
Add in Franco’s botched text and Ava’s wrath, well, we got topical and totally soapy all in one.
Best New Couple, Anna & Finn
Again, classic with a twist is the way to go. GH gave us just that with the quirky old Hollywood romance between super-spy Anna Devane and super-doc Hamilton Finn.
