When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.
Who rules the world – on General Hospital at least? Women rule the world! When Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) tried to punk out and let Peter August (Wes Ramsey) continue living, it was Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) who spurred him into doing the…right thing? (I mean, yea killing Peter is the right thing to do, but, you know, ethics, morals, all that jazz.)
Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) not only figured out that Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) ordered the hit on Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig) all on her lonesome, but she managed to elicit a confession from her hubs – something that even Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) failed to do.
Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) immediately deduced that something had profoundly shifted within formally bloody hungry Sonny – and this was before she realized that he and Nina Reeves’s (Cynthia Watros) Nixon Falls crush were one and the same.
And Madame Wu (Lydia Look) is quickly becoming the best thing about General Hospital. Not only do she and Sonny make a formidable twosome – Buscema and Novak who? – but she strikes fear in the heart of the normally unflappable Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) – which is no easy feat. Bonus: she’s done her level best to make sure that Peter isn’t long for this world.
My only complaint about Wu, is her desire for Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) to severe all ties with Brad Cooper (Parry Shen). Britt just went on the run after attempting to help take down Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) – that alone should win her points with Wu. Not to mention the fact that she then turned right around, and went after big, bad Peter. You’d think a heroine like Britt would be the very person that Brad should hang around with…not known members of the Triad.
* Anyone else notice that Madame Wu’s name magically changed from Nina to Selena? General Hospital is also trying to demote the character from a Madame to a mere Ms, but the majesty that is Wu deservers the Madame.
* Best Bit of Foreshadowing: Maxie telling Peter to, “Choke on it!”
* Best Sparring Partners (Literal and Figurative): Spencer and Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy).
* Is General Hospital purposefully trying to make me hate Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen)? Because, mission accomplished. Watching those two hypocrites blast Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) was nauseating. Willow thinks that one day she’ll be able to get past what the two of them did? Since when did Brook Lynn and Chase’s situation have anything to do with Willow?
And speaking of Willow, how dare she demand complete and total honesty from Michael, when she chooses time and time again to put herself in a position where she either has to outright lie, or lie by omission.
* Yet another week has past, and Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) is still none the wiser when it comes to Drew Cain’s (Cameron Mathison) homecoming. Isn’t it about time those two caught up?
